Colin Douglas has been a teacher of one form or another for most of his adult life. He has taught at the elementary, middle school, and secondary levels in Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Holding a Master's in Library Science, he has also worked as a school and public children's librarian in Illinois and Michigan. Colin has taught in such diverse settings as in Migrant education programs, at a magnet school for the arts, at Interlochen Arts Camp for fourteen summers, and in other public schools.

At the high school level Colin has experience teaching general and remedial English, creative and informative writing, popular, modern and dramatic literature, and acting and theater appreciation courses. Colin also directed a number of very successful plays and musicals utilizing the talents of freshmen through senior level students. He was the advisor/sponsor of two high school drama clubs.

Colin has taught every subject and every grade in elementary school, but most of his experience has been at the third grade level. He holds special endorsement certification and has worked as a gifted and talented instructor/advisor for the elementary grades. He also was a magnet school drama specialist responsible for co-coordinating the yearly artist-in-residence program, teaching elementary level creative dramatics, directing two yearly productions, and managing the school auditorium and all incoming touring shows.

In the middle school Colin worked primarily as librarian and media specialist, also working with special interest clubs and projects within the school setting. This also included directing plays and variety shows.

Colin also worked as a graduate assistant at the university level as costume and makeup production assistant and as a teaching assistant in acting for the musical stage. Other jobs have included; student activities coordinator, peer advocate counselor, ESL tutor and language lab supervisor, and examination proctor. Colin has also taught English for the Berlitz Language Instuctional program.

At CTM Madison Family Theater in Wisconsin and at the Clinton Area Showboat Theater in Iowa, Colin has taught several summers of acting, stage makeup and other theatrical courses to young people, elementary through the high school level. Once again he has also directed dramas, musicals ,and comedies utilizing the talents of children of all ages. Also, as a librarian for Van Buren County in Michigan, Colin taught adult education courses in reading, geneology research, and holiday crafts.
